BRdata Acquires Accelitec to Expand their Advanced Loyalty Platform

BRdata Cloud Loyalty now available to large percentage of its independent grocer userbase

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Melville, N.Y., June 16, 2023BRdata, the leading provider of back-office technology to independent grocers, announced the acquisition of Accelitec, a software company that specializes in offering a complete loyalty suite to retailers. Now more independent grocers can implement the same type of quality rewards program that large chains offer to consumers. This includes access to wallet credits, centralized complex promotions, digital coupons, and AI personalization.

Accelitec’s advanced loyalty suite in combination with BRdata’s end-to-end software suite enables more independent grocers to benefit from digital communications and promotions. It is a system that is customized for independents to succeed at improving sales, targeting customer loyalty, and increasing brand visibility. This platform is available to over half of BRdata’s existing customers (dependent on the retailer’s point of sale), however, BRdata back-office is not required to implement this platform.

“We are excited to bring Accelitec’s well-established and feature rich loyalty solution over to the BRdata application suite,” said John Abbene, President of BRdata. “This allows us to move closer to our vision to be the leading provider of data analytics and software solutions for the independent grocery industry. Our goal is to bring an affordable solution to independent retailers, covering everything from price management and inventory to cloud analytics, AI, trends, and loyalty. We’re thrilled to welcome the Accelitec team to BRdata, as we can now offer the white-glove treatment for independents looking to get started and to grow customer engagement with our newly expanded loyalty suite.”

BRdata and Accelitec have the shared vision of empowering independent grocers with quality technology to stay ahead and compete with large chains. “We’re happy to find a good partner in BRdata and are confident they will continue to grow a healthy and sustainable business,” said Don Zwade, COO of Accelitec.

BRdata Analytics: Trend Decomposition

Grocers need to ensure that their shelves are stocked with the items their customers want. Maintaining a high price for an item where market demand is falling uses valuable inventory space as well as shelf space where customers note that their needs aren’t being served. Maintaining a low price for an item where market demand is rising, or simply failing to offer that merchandise, risks lost profit. Both high prices and out-of-stocks nudge customers to look elsewhere. This presents an interesting, and difficult, problem: for which items is market demand rising or falling and by how much?

BRdata Analytics: Item Affinities

Grocers operate in a complex retail environment with thousands of SKUs, only some of which might catch a shopper’s attention on any given visit, whether physical or digital. This presents an interesting, and difficult, problem: which items should be located near each other? Beyond simply organizing items by a grocer’s internal Categories–Category 1 Items together and so on–grocers want to know if there are powerful connections between items in different Categories such that placing these items near each other increases shopper satisfaction and the grocer’s bottom line.

Bartlett’s Farm Launches E-Commerce Service

BRdata E-Commerce goes live at Bartlett’s Farm in Nantucket

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Melville, N.Y., July 24, 2020 – Bartlett’s Farm, in partnership with BRdata Software Solutions, recently launched an E-commerce initiative under the title, Bartlett’s Farm TO GO. With this online platform, customers can purchase groceries and farm-made prepared food for convenient and local curbside pick-up. This installation allows Bartlett’s Farms to be available for 24-hour service during the COVID-19 pandemic, effectively connecting with their customers online while maintaining their regular level of sales.

Bartlett’s Farm is Nantucket, Massachusetts’s oldest and largest family-owned farm that prides itself in providing its community with locally and regionally sourced products. While expecting to launch BRdata E-commerce in the Fall, the COVID-19 pandemic required Bartlett’s to implement this solution sooner than they expected. “The BRdata team was able to quickly get us live and we worked together to implement this new platform. This has allowed us to be able to have a seamless store front in the Cloud,” said John Bartlett, President, Bartlett’s Farm.

Since their implementation in early April, Bartlett’s has received over 5,000 orders from 1,550+ unique customers, and their store fulfills an average of 50 orders per day. Orders are processed through BRdata’s E-commerce solution, which seamlessly updates into Bartlett’s back office to balance a consistent inventory between all accounts.

As an independent grocer that survived many generations through innovation, Bartlett’s recognized that e-commerce was another opportunity to establish their presence in the current retail environment and compete with larger chains. “E-commerce has given us another outlet to reach our customers in an ever-expanding online marketplace” said John Bartlett, President, Bartlett’s Farm.

“Bartlett’s Farms is an exceptional independent grocer when it comes embracing innovation,” said John Abbene, President, BRdata. “As a single-store operator, they had already implemented our loyalty points program, sales reporting, and markdown cloud-based technologies. Adding BRdata e-commerce was a perfect fit to continue their digital transformation and build on the seamless integration into the RORC point-of-sale platform.”

BRdata Cloud Streamlines Reporting Process for Mustard Seed Market

The natural foods retailer uses BRdata Cloud to access and analyze

real-time data across its three store locations

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Melville, N.Y., April 24, 2019 – Thirty-eight years ago, Mustard Seed Market began as a unique grocery experience, selling only foods that adhered to its strict ingredient standards. The Ohio-based store was a pioneer in the natural foods retail space and has since expanded to include markets, cafés and catering in three stores. Facing the challenge of gaining insights from data spread across its locations, in 2017 Mustard Seed Market began using BRdata Cloud, a mobile-accessible, state-of-the-art reporting solution from enterprise software company BRdata.

Prior to making the switch to BRdata Cloud, Mustard Seed Market managers had to print out sales reports, scan them and run movement in a separate BRdata software. With three stores each getting custom information, the process of formatting and emailing reports was eating away hours of valuable time every week. With BRdata Cloud, Mustard Seed Market was able to minimize – and in some cases completely eliminate – hard copies of reports. The retailer also reduced its number of company-wide emails as users can access sales and movement reports from BRdata Cloud as needed and schedule email reports as is convenient.

“The time and labor savings of BRdata Cloud is just the start. We’re no longer tied to our desks when looking at reports as the solution allows us access to more robust data from anywhere,” said Josh Estafen, director of IT & category management, Mustard Seed Market. “What’s more is that through BRdata Cloud data analytics we’re able to more strategically plan promotions, supporting items that are purchased together or targeting departments that need a boost.”

Affinity reports available through BRdata Cloud offer actionable insights so Mustard Seed Market can make informed business decisions based on the data. The solution also features a loss prevention section with transaction information that aids in customer service, particularly in cases of cross-store inquiries. And through the dashboard feature, Mustard Seed Market managers are able to see the big picture at a glance and drill into data as needed from any web-enabled device.

“We’re always looking for ways to ease the pain points and time thieves that our retail clients are dealing with and working to better understand how our solutions can drive their business success,” said John Abbene, president, BRdata. “Even after we implemented BRdata Cloud with Mustard Seed Market, we’ve evolved the solution to meet their specific needs, responding to their feedback with relevant updates that strengthen our partnership.”

BRdata Cloud Provides Vallarta Supermarkets with Data-Fueled Insights for Improved Business Strategy and Operations

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Melville, N.Y., February 22, 2019 – Offering a wide variety of prepared foods and specialty items, Vallarta Supermarkets’ 50 stores are not just grocery stores but destinations for families living in and visiting the Los Angeles area. While the in-store experience offers unbeatable convenience to families on the go and young professionals, the prepared food model also presents unique operational challenges.

Vallarta’s management team needed better line of sight and more effective tracking for sales of prepared and perishable items with a short shelf-life. The supermarket chain had been working with BRdata since 2002 so Cesar Rodriguez, Vallarta’s manager of corporate data support, knew he could rely on the enterprise software solutions provider to help.

“We’re so proud of the evolution of Vallarta Supermarkets, and we needed new tools to help us operate efficiently as our stores expanded to offer more and more new products,” said Cesar.

Through its use of BRdata Cloud, the Vallarta team is able to:

  • Access real-time analytics of sales and purchases. Vallarta compares the data against projected sales and adjusts accordingly based on those insights.
  • Provide actionable sales data to managers on their smartphones. Managers have access to previous day sales and item movement from anywhere at any time.
  • Track perpetual inventory for perishables so that managers have visibility into sales and can use that data for more enlightened ordering in the produce and perishable departments.
  • Data mine the Microsoft SQL database for 3rd party applications. Vallarta conducts ongoing data mining to inform a central database so that fully integrated data can be used to make business decisions.

Cesar continued, “BRdata Cloud gives us the information we need to make informed decisions not just in one store, but across all 50. Without this tool we would be guessing at data that’s critical to our sales and business strategy. Our partnership with BRdata allows us to continue to grow with the peace of mind that we have the support of a cutting-edge solutions provider to meet our changing needs.”

“We are excited to partner with Vallarta on their digital transformation, using our cloud analytics specifically designed for the retail grocery industry,” said John Abbene, president, BRdata. “Now that they can effortlessly access their purchasing, sales, and inventory datasets, our next cloud endeavor is to transform Vallarta’s ordering platform, utilizing Android mobile devices. We look forward to continually renewing their technology, by deploying enhancements to BRdata Cloud every two weeks.”

BRdata Showcases Expanded Cloud Ecosystem at the 2019 NGA Show

The enterprise software company’s end-to-end cloud-based solution now includes
updated e-commerce, vendor portal and order management capabilities

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Melville, N.Y., February 22, 2019 – Attendees at the 2019 National Grocers Association (NGA) show will get a firsthand look at the new and enhanced features of BRdata Software Solutions’ Cloud Ecosystem. Various features, including e-commerce, comprehensive analytics, customer loyalty and more, will be demonstrated at booth 1400 throughout the show, taking place from February 24-27 at the San Diego Convention Center.

As the grocery industry has embraced online ordering, delivery, consumer apps and more, BRdata has worked closely with independent retailers and wholesalers to incorporate the right mix of solutions into their stores. Now, with the BRdata Cloud Ecosystem, BRdata clients have even more capabilities and information at their fingertips, all housed together on one cloud-based, integrated platform. Grocers can customize the platform for seamless access to all the tools they need to run their stores efficiently and effectively compete with mega retailers online.

At 2019 NGA, BRdata will introduce vendor portal and ordering management to the list of solutions within the Cloud Ecosystem. Through vendor portal, grocery retailers and wholesalers can add seamless communications to their Master Data Management (MDM) systems by allowing vendors and brokers to upload item, cost and promotional information to the vendor portal. BRdata Cloud AI Ordering takes the guessing out of ordering, improves cash flows by reducing inventory, increases gross margin with less shrink, reduces out-of-stocks, and adds efficiency with cost and labor savings.

“Over the past few years, grocers have been primarily focused on e-commerce, consumer apps, and loyalty programs. These solutions are no longer ‘nice-to-haves’ for independent grocers. They’re imperative for maintaining a competitive presence,” said John Abbene, president, BRdata. “Now that many independent grocers have these solutions in place, we expect a shift to integration. The BRdata Cloud Ecosystem helps retailers take their solutions to the next level and incorporate all of the data and functionality they gain from these tools to streamline processes and enhance the consumer experience.”

BRdata will host a user group meeting at 5:30 p.m. in room 23A on Monday, February 25. All current and potential BRdata software users are welcome to attend the session to learn more about BRdata’s latest solutions as well as to provide their input on technology and trends affecting independent grocers.
